MONTHLY FOIBLES ...wherein we discuss what we did this month…

Moss: I’ve been spending a few days teaching, had a lot of work to do on my other podcasts, and have otherwise been quite wiped out trying to keep up with daily living. Don’t let anyone kid you, 70 years and a few broken pieces keeps you tuckered out. I have almost completely reworked my test laptop, with OpenMandriva 4.3 and Ubuntu Unity 22.10 in addition to what I’m reviewing this episode as well as Bodhi 6 and Mint – but now the Mint I’m using is Cinnamon instead of Mate, and I’m just waiting for Bodhi 7 to reach Beta so I can check it out. ....More

MONTHLY FOIBLES ...wherein we discuss what we did this month…

Moss: I spent a lot of time trying different distros to see what I could review this month. I got some good ideas which should wait until next month. I’ve had 2 days of subbing in the past month. And we’re planning our trip to Chambanacon after Thanksgiving.  I have also had some interesting travails concerning Firefox on Mint 21, but I’ll talk about those a bit later in the show. ......more

MONTHLY FOIBLES

...wherein we discuss what we did this month…

Moss: I completely reworked the distros on my T540p due to some really strange things going on with Mint 21. The only distro I did not reinstall was Bodhi, which keeps plugging right along. I have gone back into the classroom as a substitute teacher, but only time will tell if I have the stamina to keep it up....more.....

MONTHLY FOIBLES ...wherein we discuss what we did this month…

Moss: I had a short bout with covid-19 but seem to be over it. I am still having some stomach trouble, but I think that’s related more to problems with blood pressure meds, although I could be wrong about that.

I got two new UPSes and a new keyboard. The UPS story is too long to go into here. The old keyboard, a Fellowes Microban which has served me for years, has a sticking key. I would have to take it completely apart to fix it and I didn’t want to be without a keyboard. FYI, my new Perixx Periboard looks exactly like the Fellowes Microban Natural keyboard, but it just isn’t. ....More

MONTHLY FOIBLES

...wherein we discuss what we did this month…

Moss - I got all signed up to try my hand as a substitute teacher for another term. I have no idea whether I have the energy to deal with kids all day 2 or 3 days a week and still have the energy and other tools to continue my three podcasts, but we are simply spending money too fast and need to increase our income and thereby our savings. We have also changed our plans as to where we might move, which means nothing until........ More.....

MONTHLY FOIBLES ...wherein we discuss what we did this month…

Moss - More car problems. Our new car required $4,000 of our money to fix, and then shredded the timing belt, requiring an engine rebuild. After much consultation, we decided to buy another car, and we found what looks like a good one, with the additional benefit that the lot we bought from also bought our motorless vehicle .........more

MONTHLY FOIBLES  ...wherein we discuss what we did this month…

Josh - I switched back to Linux Mint on my new laptop and I don’t regret it one bit. It really feels like coming home again. Hardware is working great with Mint and even my fans work properly as the GPU and CPU temps fluctuate. Unfortunately the keyboard RGB does not stay the color I chose unless I boot into Windows and then reboot and select Mint. .......More

MONTHLY FOIBLES ...wherein we discuss what we did this month…

Josh - I Got my laptop back from repair and it’s kinda fixed. The light bleeding has moved from the middle of the top of my screen to the left corner. I can actually get rid of the light bleed if I press on the back of my display while holding the front with my thumb. I think I could actually use some clear tape to fix this issue. It may look stupid but at least the bleed would be gone.......More
